La Ballena Azul Hotel

The room was large, with a sea view, a balcony and table, and a small fridge. It was a bit old, but had an old flat screen TV that was okay. The bed could have been more comfortable. The air conditioning worked well, and the shower had hot water. Staff were friendly, and there are many restaurants nearby, plus a drugstore right next door that's open 24 hours. The beach is close. Noise was the big problem. Bars next to the room played loud music until 1 am, and I could clearly hear people talking and dogs barking. Some mornings at 6 am there was a workout group on the beach playing loud music too. If you're after a party, book it. If you want to relax, don't. Day trips usually start early, so this isn't a good hotel if you want to enjoy your day.

The food was among the better options on the beach. We tried salmon ceviche, gazpacho, and a salmon quesadilla, and all of it was very good, though a little expensive. The pina colada was awful, so I'd stick to beer. Our server was funny and chatty. We'll come back.

It was a very noisy place. Staff started work around 6 am and woke me up with the noise they made in the hotel. The price felt very high for the quality and service.

The rooms are large, the location is awesome, and the staff are friendly. It's comfortable, but nothing luxurious. A lot of things feel old and could use improvement.
