Family Host

The room was very basic, but it and the facilities were more than enough for me. There's a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of places to sit, either with other people or on your own to relax. The volunteers are so welcoming and nice. It's a great backpackers' hostel, not far from the terminal or the town's main square. I'd definitely come back.

The beds were comfortable, the place was incredibly clean, and the water was very hot. The staff were so lovely and friendly. Everything you could ask for!

What makes this place special is the people who work here. I got sick during my stay, and the way they cared for me really warmed my heart. The common area is nice, the kitchen is well equipped, and everything is super clean. And no bedbugs!!

I really, really wouldn't recommend staying at family host hostel. I woke up with more than 50 bedbug bites, and the man in the bed next to me found bugs on his mattress and then on his bag. The kitchen was full of cockroaches, not just one or two but dozens. We told the owner we needed our bags and clothes dried on high heat, but there was no dryer, so I had to use a laundromat. That cost me 95,000 pesos out of pocket, and the owner refused to reimburse me. They sprayed the room and used steam, then put the blankets and pillows straight back without cleaning them. Anyone who's dealt with bedbugs knows the room would still have bugs.
