Hotel Aqua Vitae

The location worked perfectly for me. It’s close to the main plaza, bus station, countryside restaurants and attractions, but far enough away to stay quiet. There are also plenty of restaurants and activities within walking distance. The colonial hotel is beautiful and cozy, with warm, bright, well-ventilated rooms and a great view of the nearby hills. I loved the flower-decorated inner patio and its fountain, especially on a hot afternoon. They offer free breakfast and have a restaurant too, though I didn’t try it.

It’s about a ten-minute walk to the city center, and the rooms are clean. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and Luz deserves a raise! Just ask them if you need anything. Breakfast is very good. Once I asked if I could get some food before the restaurant opened, and they got it for me in ten minutes while I waited for my taxi.

The room was generous and spacious, with a jacuzzi tub and a working chimney. They can set up the chimney for 30,000 Col pesos. The internet was free, and Alex at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was free from 8-10am, with eggs made how you wanted, fruit, a croissant, juice and coffee. The inner courtyard is delightful, and you can walk everywhere in Villa de Leyva. Calle Nariño has plenty of businesses offering excursions.
