B&B Hotel Vista Linda Montaña

There are toucans in the garden every day, along with other birds and wildlife. The garden has a sunset platform, and the pool is nice and cool. Rooms are beautiful and clean, and the hill gets plenty of sun, dry weather and a nice breeze. You’re close to the airport but away from the city’s noise and bad air. Breakfast is tasty and healthy. There aren’t many restaurants nearby, so you can use Uber Eats or walk about a mile to a chicken place. The one next to the Pali is currently quite good! The bus to alajuela stops right outside. Renate can help with car rental. We had a car for three weeks at a reasonable price, with no problems, and it was delivered to and picked up from the hotel. A great place to start or end a CR tour. If we manage to come back, we’ll gladly stay again. Danke Renate :)

There’s no food at the hotel other than breakfast, and we missed that because we had an early flight. There’s no food near the hotel either. We’d already returned our rental car, so it wasn’t easy to get elsewhere. When we asked the hosts what they recommended, they said anything on Uber Eats was good, but it wasn’t. I wish we’d known about the food situation in advance. We chose Hotel Vista Linda Montaña for its airport location and good reviews, staying the last night before our flight. The place itself was gorgeous, a secluded little oasis with flowers, birds and a pool. The rooms were basic but comfortable enough, and the two women who run it were very kind and seemed to enjoy hosting. It was a lovely place to relax, despite the food issue.

The lights were out when we arrived, and after we rang the bell many times, nobody answered the phone. The owner finally came out half asleep and acted as if she didn’t know I had a reservation. I’d been nervous something sketchy might happen, so I had double-checked with the owner beforehand. We were arriving late from the airport and didn’t want to be searching for another place after midnight, which is exactly what happened. The next four hotels I called were fully booked. We drove around, spent a bunch of money on an Uber, and searched for somewhere to stay until around 1 in the morning. What a nightmare.

It’s a pretty place, and the two nice young women there provided everything we needed. Breakfast was good. The wifi was really bad, almost nonexistent.
