The garden was lovely, and breakfast was okay, but the room felt like a closet despite being meant for two. There wasn’t space to open a suitcase or change, and my son couldn’t sit on the floor to play. With no shops or restaurants nearby, we had to walk at least four blocks. Outside noise kept us from sleeping well, but closing the window would have left the tiny room without enough air. I’d also bought a couple of drinks, and someone took one from the fridge.

Such a pretty little B&B, and the staff were lovely. The rooms are a bit small and there’s no A.C., but when we asked, they brought us a fan. They were very accommodating and shared useful tips about nearby restaurants and which cabs won’t overcharge. I’d recommend staying here in the cooler season.

The atmosphere here is excellent, with lots of plants and some really cute rescue dogs. There’s a shared kitchen and a minimarket nearby. Just read the room details carefully: only one room has its own bathroom, while the others use a shared one.

The staff were kind and accommodating, and there’s a kitchen guests can use. Anything besides breakfast has to come through a delivery service, and there’s only one available. We arrived late and left by 4 AM, so this is just my first impression, but the place looked beautiful, tucked away on a back street. It was hot, so we had to keep the window open, and there weren’t any screens for mosquitoes. I put on bug lotion before bed but didn’t see any. A huge jet engine fan helped move the air, though I couldn’t sleep with it running. Someone was smoking right outside our window, which triggered my asthma. She moved as soon as I asked, but I wish there were a smoking area farther from the bedrooms.

Quiet, comfortable, and beautiful, and I felt safe here. I slept better here than anywhere else on all my travels in Costa Rica. I’ll definitely come back if I stay in San Jose again.
