Loma Tranquila

The host was very nice and gave great customer service. My room was a good size, and after booking a unit without a balcony, I upgraded to one on the second floor with a balcony and amazing views day and night. The hillside location felt very safe at night. I could hear crickets then and birds in the morning, and the views were breathtaking, with a gorgeous sunrise. The pool wasn’t working because it was being painted. I enjoyed my stay, but gave it four stars because both the room and the building feel rundown and outdated, and need touchups and maintenance. Cleanliness was okay, about 3/5, and they should arrange pest control. Aside from that, things were good. This place has a lot of potential for improvement.

Loma Tranquilla has the kind of stunning views that make you feel tucked away in a private sanctuary, with the mountains meeting the sky. It was so peaceful compared with a big commercial resort. I’ve traveled to many places, but I’m certain I’ll stay here every time I return to Costa Rica. The place is family-owned, and the owner’s warmth, local knowledge, and genuine care made the trip easy. They went above and beyond to make guests feel like family and seemed to anticipate what we needed. For a stay with beautiful scenery and personal service, I’d tell people to book a room here. You won’t regret it.

Maria is extremely nice, the service is the one bright spot, and the owners do respond quickly. Everything else was a -1 out of 10 for me. It’s not close to downtown, and there were cobwebs, ants, and bugs. The shower was extremely gross and old. The pool is dirty and never open. There are no hangers or anywhere to hang clothes, just a bench with cobwebs. Keep in mind you can’t come and go whenever you like. You have to be back at the hotel by 10pm so they can lock the gate. Also, even though it says refundable online, you can’t get your money back. Spend the extra money and stay somewhere you’ll feel comfortable.

Oh my god, the scenery is amazing, way beyond what I expected. It’s so airy and peaceful, a perfect place to relax. I love the owner and her two daughters. They’re really friendly and enthusiastic. Hope everyone has a memorable holiday!
