Ruta Verde House

William was kind and easy to communicate with. Villa Tambor is very spacious, and while you can hear planes and some traffic, it’s mostly quiet, with birds singing in the morning. We enjoyed the breakfast and dinner, and it was handy to hire a 4x4 from William. When the car gave us trouble about a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Alajuela, he quickly arranged a mechanic to help.

We spent three nights at Ruta Verde and loved it. Bill and his wife made us feel like family, and the food they prepared was delicious. Our room was clean and comfortable, with spectacular views. By the pool we watched baby iguanas playing, and the trees were full of toucans. Friends recommended this B&B and said it was the only place to stay while visiting San Jose. I completely agree. We’d happily return to Rude Verde and highly recommend it.

Will made our first Costa Rica visit feel safe and welcoming from the start. He picked us up, served fresh, lovely meals, and helped us arrange a rental car. He also took such kind care of our daughter, who had traveled ahead of us. The location made it easy to get to San José and the surrounding areas. Everyone at Ruta Verde helped make our trip unforgettable, and we couldn’t have asked for a better beginning and ending to our Costa Rican adventure. Highly recommend it.

The second-floor Honeymoon Suite has a covered porch with rocking chairs, perfect for morning coffee, watching birds, and taking in the beautiful views of coffee fields and mountains. Ruta Verde is also close to Alajuela and mountain towns like Sarchi and Grecia. We stayed four nights and had a wonderful time. William and Lilia were welcoming hosts, and the meals were fantastic.
