The lake view was still amazing in the rain, and birds were all around. We were one of only three cars there, and found it much more charming than La Tortuga, which was mobbed with buses and parking attendants, or the German Bakery, with no view and no parking lot. The "100% birds" signs caught our eye and have become our favorite restaurant criterion. The owner was out feeding them at lunch, so they really were everywhere. This lovingly built and cared for lodge and restaurant has been owned by a German ex-pat for about 50 years. He was at the bar watching soccer. Apparently it used to be quite a destination, with a long history of tennis tournaments.
