Bungalows Ache Cozy House

Leandro is an excellent host, and his whole team was friendly and helpful. Cahuita does have some issues with the electricity supply, though it wasn’t too bad. We saw more wildlife in the property garden than in the Cahuita Park. This was our second stay at Bungalows Aché, and our first time in the “New” Cozy House.

We had everything we needed in the bungalow, and it was all well maintained and thoughtfully arranged. The AC was a lifesaver in the heat, the coffee machine made morning coffee for the porch, and having private parking made coming and going easy. It was spacious and felt very private, just what we wanted. Being so close to the jungle made it feel like a proper getaway, with nature sounds all around. A comfortable, peaceful spot right by the jungle. I can’t recommend it enough.

The owner was very nice and helpful. We had a well equipped shared kitchen, plus a kettle and coffee maker. Our room only had a fan, but that was perfectly fine during our visit. Lovely wooden bungalows sit in a beautiful natural garden, where we saw both howler and capuchin monkeys. We really love this place.

We stayed four nights in the Cozy House at the end of the road. It’s very quiet and secluded, with only one house beyond it, so hardly anyone passes by unless they’re going to that house or taking a night hike at the back entrance to the natl park. There’s lots of wildlife right in the yard, and on the walk to the road we had an amazing capuchin encounter. A family of probably 30 monkeys interacted with us and our children. The house is lovely, with AC when needed, hot water on demand, hammocks, and a good enough kitchen. There’s an outdoor shower to rinse off before using the indoor one. The host quickly helped when we needed something, though we didn’t need much. It’s close to both the park and town. We love Cahuita, which seemed much the same as on our last visit in 2006. The park infrastructure is better and there are new grocery stores, but it hasn’t changed as much as the Pacific areas we revisited. Don’t skip Cahuita, it’s an absolute gem on the Caribbean.
