La Shamana Ecolodge

We spent two nights here and loved it, even though it was outside our comfort zone. The lodge has a beautiful design and feels cozy, while the surrounding jungle is full of plants and animals. Its sounds were intense enough that we felt like we were living alongside the wildlife. We enjoyed the breakfast and natural pool. The staff were warm and welcoming. We drove to Cahuita for dinner, and I'd strongly suggest having a 4WD car. We highly recommend La Shamana to anyone visiting Costa Rica.

Jessica, thanks for such a lovely stay! We spent a lot of time chatting over breakfast, nearly two hours, since we were the only guests then. She was happy to answer anything about activities, places to eat, and the best beach spots. The room was lovely, with a comfortable bed and a great shower. The drive up the hill was quite an adventure at first, but we got used to it. Up there, monkeys are your alarm clock. On our last morning they were right outside our window 🤩. If you're staying, take a night walk around the hotel with Rodolpho, and ask Jessica to arrange dinner with the local lady. Bring an appetite! 😄 We were there for four nights and wished we could stay longer.

Jessica made us some really tasty, nourishing breakfasts, a great way to start the day, and she was amazing. The room was lovely and the internet was very fast. Beautiful nature all around, with howler monkeys and whiteface monkeys for company. Be sure to give Princessa and Maria Teressa a big hug! Thanks so much, Jessica. We'll be back 100%.

The kids and I loved this place. The home-cooked breakfast was included, and dinner was available too. The spacious, comfortable cabanes have everything you need, with mosquito nets over every bed. You wake up in the middle of the forest. It's an ecologically run hotel, built by a really nice couple, with cabins set among the trees.
