Canaima Chill House

The hotel sits up a hill, about a five minute walk, so getting there can be a climb, especially without a car or ATV. But it’s peaceful up there, away from the noisy, dusty main road, and that made the effort worthwhile. We even saw lizards, iguanas, and monkeys. My husband and I travel a lot, and this was one of our best stays. The staff were really nice, and the cleaning lady was especially sweet and went out of her way to help. We’d happily return. If you can, spending a bit more for a second floor loft is worth it. The fully equipped kitchen was a big plus for making breakfast, and the fridge was handy for snacks, drinks, and fruit.

Getting there takes a four wheel drive. The slope is very steep, and in rainy season the road was slippery and muddy. With a car that has good tires and four wheel drive, it should be manageable. Inside, the apartment is spacious and well equipped. The shower has a glass panel at one end, so you can enjoy the view while showering. The two floor layout has a half level with two beds, which makes more room downstairs. There’s also a lovely terrace with a daybed for relaxing to the sounds of nature. A great Santa Teresa hideaway for wildlife from the terrace and a swim in the jungle pool. The pool area has relaxing spots and a jacuzzi. A very nice oasis.

The rooms were incredible, and the pool looked stunning. Such a beautiful, ridiculously peaceful place.

You’re up the hill, only 400 meters from the main road, yet far enough away for quiet and peace. We loved our little home away from home. Our patio had a hammock and a place to eat. The pool is small but clean, and there’s a deck for yoga. One thing to know: you need a car or four wheeler to get up here. Walking is possible, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
