Breakfast from the owners was great, and costs $8. The bungalows are clean, spacious, and have terraces overlooking the jungle. You can hear the jungle at night, and with a bit of attention you might spot howler monkeys, toucans, and sloths. It's 800mts from the road, so especially handy for guests arriving by car.

The hosts were lovely and the scenery was beautiful. Our room was tidy and clean, and while we were out the woman would make the bed and replace the towels. Breakfast is available for $8/person, with coffee. Highly recommend.

The location works well if you've got a car, with restaurants and beaches nearby. But we were pretty happy to leave after three nights. I'd suggest two nights at most. There was no Wi-Fi in the bungalow, even though the listing says there is. On a full day of rain, internet can matter! When we told the owners, they said we could use it at the lobby/reception. So there I was at 6.00 am trying to organize the rest of my Costa Rica trip. They didn't offer even one cup of coffee while I used the Wi-Fi, while the animals were being fed right in front of me and the owners had breakfast. A little more hospitality wouldn't hurt :) There's no laundry service, which is really needed when you're traveling for several weeks. Almost every lodge in Costa Rica offers it, and it seems like easy money for the hosts. The room is rustic and needs more outlets, since there was just one, opposite the bed. There were lots of geese at the entrance to the bungalow path. They were noisy in the morning and not very friendly when we had to pass them every time we left.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Jungle Lodge. When they learned I needed good internet, they even switched me to another room on the fly ☺️ The one drawback is that fast, stable internet isn't guaranteed, so it could be frustrating if you depend on it. Hopefully they'll be able to get fiber or Starlink once it becomes available in the area soon.

I had a fantastic stay in 2018. The hosts were wonderful, and it was a great base for enjoying the outdoors and feeling free. The road is a bit rough, so we were glad to have a small 4x4. There are lots of local restaurants, surf that's beyond my level, and plenty of places to visit and explore. Thank you :)
