Hotel Villa Del Sol

We appreciated the laundry service, which was handy after days at the beach and out exploring. The property feels private and secure, and the lush grounds make it easy to relax. It’s just a quick five-minute walk to the beach, while still tucked away in a peaceful spot. The staff were friendly, helpful, and genuinely kind from the moment we arrived, and that made a real difference. Whether you’re exploring Playa del Coco or spending time onsite, Villa del Sol is a fantastic place to stay. We had an amazing time and would absolutely come back. Highly recommend.

The stay went by far too quickly, so I’ll be back soon and will recommend it to family and friends. It’s just steps from the most beautiful black sand beach I’ve ever seen, and town is an easy walk away with lots of shops and restaurants. I enjoyed everything from the front desk service and breakfast to the sounds of nature. 10/10.

We loved being so close to one of the two public beach entrances along the main road. Each room has beach towels and camping chairs to take along. The villa is in a quiet neighborhood, well away from the tourist bustle at the intersection of Hwy 151 and Playa del Coco’s main street. The main shopping area is maybe a mile away, and at 80 we were glad to have a car. There are grocery stores, restaurants, and a pharmacy along the main road, so we didn’t need to go to the intersection unless we wanted souvenirs or guides. The gates were closed at night, and the grounds felt secure. I noticed two buildings. The registration building has rooms without kitchens and a large breakfast area with tables, where breakfast costs $10. I’m not sure whether other meals are available. There are games and books, too. Apart from one small ground floor room, the bedrooms in that building are reached by two sets of stairs. I wouldn’t want to carry a suitcase up the narrow spiral staircase by the registration desk at my age, though there’s a more manageable staircase outside. We stayed in the other building, where the studios have roomy, well-equipped kitchens with a large fridge, a stove, and everything needed to cook, plus a table and two chairs. There are two chairs outside each door facing west, where guests can take in magnificent sunsets. Surprisingly, we didn’t see any bugs. We played Canasta at night at one of the tables in the covered area beside the beautiful, lit pool. There’s a grill there that guests used to make dinner, and hammocks around the lovely landscaping. Elizabeth, who runs the villa, was very friendly, and we appreciated that she could speak English. We had just one small issue: some used towels were taken and never replaced. I respect reusing towels during our three-day stay, but if they need to be taken for washing, please replace them.

The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are good, and the location is amazing, very close to the beach. The pillows are flat, though, and the shower pressure is comical. We didn’t have any interactions with staff, which is why I gave the service rating. A great place overall.
