The meals were included, and the chef gave us one outstanding dining experience after another. Thank goodness for all the daytime activities to work off some of that food. The resort itself is intimate, with three bungalows and a pavilion dining area, all looking out over beautiful scenery. Our group of six stayed at Drake Bay Greenleaf and had a wonderful time with Hellen, Steven, and Vincent’s welcoming family. The resort sits above Drake Bay near Corcovado National Park, with easy access to snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, birding, park tours, waterfalls, and a mangrove. Hellen, who is from Drake Bay, arranged everything expertly and works with the best local guides. Gustavo guided us in the national park, on the night hike, and for birding. We’re very grateful he shared so much about local history, wildlife, and plants. We visited a private property with two waterfalls, snorkeled, spent time at the beach, went to Corcavado National Park, took a night hike, and joined a birding tour. The area, between the park and Pacific Ocean, is full of colorful birds, animals, vegetation, and a welcoming atmosphere. At the resort we saw tapirs, a coati, white-faced and howler monkeys, and lots of birds. We’re not birders, but were amazed by the range and beauty of species native to this area. It was a unique, relaxing, and lovely stay. I highly recommend Drake Bay Greenleaf if you’re visiting the Drake Bay area of Costa Rica.
