Finca Maresia

I spent four nights here as a solo traveler, including Christmas, and felt like family from the moment I arrived. The property is stunning, even prettier than the photos. Everyone shares dinner at one big table each night, which makes it easy to connect with other guests. We’d often stop to chat when we ran into each other in the common areas. Johnny is a fantastic host who had each day organized, from breakfast and departure times to transport and tour bookings, so I didn’t have to think about the details. Drake Bay has so many great tours, and I loved heading out each day. It was just as nice to come back, talk with other guests about what they’d done, and relax in my hammock with an incredible private view. The hotel has what you need, including well-priced beer, wine, soft drinks, snacks, and delicious food. Drinks and snacks work on an honor system. This is one of those places you remember. If I come back to Drake Bay, I’ll stay here again. Thanks to Johnny and the whole staff for a magical visit!

The grounds at Finca Maresia are beautiful, all lush greenery and wildlife, and the staff are friendly. They’ll help plan an excursion itinerary before you arrive. The whole thing had the feel of an elevated summer camp, in the best way: great meals with the other guests, nature-focused cabins, and a clear plan for each day’s activities. I had a fantastic stay and look forward to coming back to Drake Bay.

Emilio made our stay feel especially welcoming. He helped arrange trips, plan our days, and sort out transport, always going out of his way to make us feel at home. We spent three nights at the finca and loved the room design, the setting, and the main building where everyone shares meals at one big family table. The staff were lovely and so helpful. I’d absolutely recommend it, and hope to return.

We had a lovely time at Finca Maresia, surrounded by nature, and the food was great. Emilio was very helpful with everything. Just keep in mind the beach is a little way off: it’s walkable, but takes about 15-20 minutes, with a downhill stretch and then an uphill one.
