Such a friendly, laid-back lodge right on El Camino de Costa Rica. The food was so good, and you can get hot showers, use the hot tub, and arrange a massage or laundry.

The staff were very pleasant and clearly enjoy their work. Our room was super clean, and the mattress didn’t need a liner. The owner was so passionate about the place that he seemed to stay on his feet the whole time, doing our laundry and making meals. He greeted us at the door with a big smile, a much-needed cold drink, and coffee. It’s well located on the Camino de Costa Rica.

We found it very expensive, and the owner charged us even more because we wanted to pay in colones instead of dollars.

The people are what I enjoy most whenever I visit Río Macho Lodge. They’re always attentive, ready to help, and have helped me with everything I’ve needed, even finding a home for a kitten we came across on the trail. Evelyn, Don Gerardo, and his father really know how to make you feel at home. I definitely recommend it.
