The room was really lovely for the price, with warm water too. The hosts were so kind and friendly. Only downside was the stairs, which were a bit brutal when hauling things up and down.

All those good reviews are deserved. We booked at the last minute for five nights and got an incredible rate, with all the comfort we needed. The hostess, Sra, was extremely kind. The air conditioning worked very well, though it took a bit of fiddling to find a setting that wasn't too cold. The mattresses were good, the pillows big, and the shower warm, even a little too warm for us. Changing its temperature means reaching all the way up to the electric heating element, which felt like a safety hazard, though I'm sure the hostess would have helped if we'd asked. They even made the beds and replenished the room supplies every day, which we hadn't expected. The garden area has nice private rooms and an outdoor kitchen with a fridge, about a minute from the main road. We had to walk up with our luggage and weren't picked up by car. Maybe that was because we booked the same day or because there were only two of us. The boats beach is just a five-minute walk, and catching your breath on the way is enough. We walked ten minutes east along the same beach to find a lovely spot for swimming, sunbathing, and watching the sunset. The tour operation might look a bit expensive, but they can match any price you find online if you ask. It feels a little uncomfortable to ask, but it's understandable. In the low season, we started as the only guests in the garden area, then another group arrived after two days. The only improvement I'd suggest is leaving an empty room between groups when possible. The walls are a bit thin, and the other guests woke me at 10 p.m. laughing when we had a 6 a.m. boat to catch, and at 5 a.m. another day when they were catching a 6 a.m. boat. My partner slept through it. With three empty rooms in the garden building, it would've been more comfortable to put us farther apart. Even so, it's amazing value, like a quality hotel room in a central but quiet location for the price of a hostel dorm.

The owner was so friendly and helpful. When we arrived by boat, she picked us up at the beach and drove us back there when we left. She also helped book tours and sort out bus schedules. The room and beds were large and really clean, and the hostel is very central, so we could walk everywhere. We had a chilled, great stay at Osa Tucan, and the price was amazing!

The apartment was big and the bathroom very clean, cleaner than you'd expect. There's no air conditioning, but plenty of fans. Bear in mind that clothes won't dry in the humidity, though you can hang them outside if there's sun. The kitchen utensils are okay, but I wouldn't recommend them for proper cooking.
