Pirate Cove

I’m back for a second time. At first glance it may seem like an ordinary place, but it’s a real gem. Francisco looks after every guest with genuine care and dedication. Set between the rainforest, river, and beach, it’s a great spot to relax, look for animals, or head out on an adventure.

We had a great time at Pirate Cove. The pool is lovely for relaxing, and the village isn’t far away. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I can only recommend it!

Cabin 7 had a really cool location, with a view of where rio drake meets the ocean and a nice beach down the stairs. At $200 a night, though, it didn’t feel worth the price. The bathroom door was hard to lock, and the shower had no warm water. The cleaning crew did a good job, but they never locked our door, so it was unlocked every time we came back. On our first night, the woman at the desk said everything in town closed around 7 PM and suggested we eat at the hotel, where dinner costs $30. We ate at town restaurants every night, sometimes as late as 9 PM, so you can go out for a late meal.

We spent four nights in a bungalow without air conditioning, but adjusted without any trouble. It was quiet, and we liked being away from big groups. From the hammocks on our deck, we napped each day while parrots and macaws passed overhead. There’s plenty to see and enjoy on the property, and excursions are easy to start from the hotel. Town is a 25-minute walk, though you can also call for a ride. The welcoming cool juice on arrival, delicious meals, lovely views, and attentive, caring staff all made this one of our favorite stops. We also had a great snorkeling day on a trip arranged by the hotel. We’ve been so happy and relaxed here, and our kids, 14 and 16, are already asking when we can come back.
