Rancho Corcovado Lodge

My superior room was upstairs, spacious enough for one and came with AC. There's a climb to get there, but you can't have everything. The location is away from the beach, so it was a relaxing place to return to after excursions, and it wasn't inconveniently far out like some hotels. The staff were helpful, and Alexis helped me even though his English wasn't great. Food was included, so I never really went hungry.

The grounds are lovely, full of birds, and the beachfront location is quiet and away from the road. My room was up 73 steps, but that brought a nice ocean view. It's a short walk to where boats pick people up for whale watching and other trips, and up the driveway you'll find restaurants and shops. Staff were friendly and could arrange airport transport. Breakfast with rice and beans was very good. The standard room was a decent size, but there was hardly anywhere to put anything: no bedside table, reading light, dresser, closet, chair, or desk, and just two hangers on a rod. The bathroom had the same lack of storage. There was no mini-fridge, and I had to ask reception for a hairdryer. No TV didn't bother me, but a reading lamp would've been useful. The AC worked well, which is essential in 100% humidity.

We didn't stay overnight, but booked two tours here, snorkeling at Caño Island and an overnight trip to Corcovado. Both were incredible, with really sweet, helpful guides. For what you get to do and see, the price is more than worth it. We had an amazing time, thanks!

Getting to tour pickups and restaurants was easy from this centrally located beachfront hotel, though reaching town means climbing a hill when the tide is high. Our room was very clean, the AC worked well, and we had an ocean view with plenty of birds around. Food was decent, and breakfast starts early enough to eat before an excursion. There's no WiFi or drinking water in the rooms, but both are available at the office and restaurant. Mila and the staff were a huge help with restaurant suggestions, excursions, questions, and arranging airport taxis. The tours we booked through the hotel, Caño Island snorkeling, Sirena Park, a night jungle walk, and birdwatching, were all great, with good guides and easy arrangements. I'd absolutely recommend staying here.
