Casa Tranquilo Hostel

Breakfast had fruit, eggs, and pancakes, with water and coffee available all day. The social spaces were also great for meeting other travelers and making our little travel family. The owners were welcoming, helpful, and always smiling. Their cute little dogs made the hostel feel even more like home. Rooms were tidy, clean, and not overcrowded like some places, the beds were comfortable, and the toilets stayed clean. What was there not to like? This felt like home. It's been my favorite hostel in Costa Rica so far, and one of my top hostels across more than 55 countries.

We had a blast chatting and relaxing in the courtyard with the owners and other guests. The owners are warm, funny people who clearly love having visitors. The hostel is spotless and beautifully decorated, with plants and natural light throughout. I'd recommend it to anyone after a comfortable, relaxed, sociable stay in Monteverde.

Breakfast together each morning was delicious and made it easy to meet people and find others to join tours with. The owner speaks an impressive number of languages and really tries to make everyone feel welcome. The staff were lovely about booking tours and answering transport questions, and that kind of hospitality meant a lot to me. I can't wait to return someday ❤️ This was the coziest, most home-like hostel I've stayed in. I was glad I listened to people who said they wished they'd stayed longer and booked a full week myself. My one complaint is the shortage of outlets, which made working as a digital nomad difficult. The place is meant to get people away from screens and connecting with each other and nature, though.

We had a private room with a bathroom and really enjoyed it. The bed was cozy, and those memory foam pillows were amazing. Breakfast was fresh and tasty every day. It's an easy walk to plenty of restaurants and shops in the main town center. This family-run hostel has a lovely homey feel and did not disappoint.
