Cloud Forest Lodge

The rooms were kept very clean, with cleaning several times a day. Breakfast at endemica was excellent, with lovely cloud forest views and lots of hummingbirds to watch. The food there was outstanding, and they even have a full vegetarian menu. Jose, Dennis and Priscilla were amazing with us and our toddler. I’d highly recommend the restaurant even if you’re not staying here.

You’ll want your own transport since Cloud Forest Lodge isn’t in the town centre, but its quiet setting among nature makes up for that. There are a few trails on the property, so you can explore the cloud forest without going far. Our room was huge, the bathroom was just as spacious, and the shower was excellent. The large private balcony was a lovely place to relax and watch birds. Breakfast was great, with hummingbirds flying around and lovely views. The grounds were well kept, and the whole place felt peaceful and relaxing.

I loved walking the trails around the property and seeing all the incredible plants and birds. The dinner felt really special, with chef’s special appetizers brought out for us, though you do need a reservation. Everything we ate and drank was delicious, and I wish we’d had more time to try the whole menu. Breakfast came with French presses and properly strong coffee, which I appreciated as an American who likes it that way. Every employee was kind, gracious, and accommodating. Our room was the coziest of the four places we stayed in CR. I loved having bath robes, and the bed was so comfortable that I got my best sleep of the trip. The attention to detail and kindness throughout were incredible. I was treated to this stay, so I don’t know if I’ll get to come back, but I’ll always treasure the time I had here. Thank you for caring for such a special place with kindness and respect.

The food was the best we had in our two weeks in Costa Rica. Every dish was amazing, from the bread with seasoned butter to the bite-sized starter and finisher. They brought extra plates when we shared our food without us even having to ask. Dennis was an excellent server and great to talk to, and the service team worked smoothly with each other and the kitchen. Our room at Cloud Forest Lodge was clean and spacious. We were close to the forest, so the view wasn’t much, but we enjoyed hearing the birds and monkeys. We spent time in the shared balcony areas and by the indoor fire. Hummingbirds, other birds, and even capuchin monkeys came by. Happy hour was a nice touch and made the stay feel even more relaxing.
