Henri's house Hotel

The location is amazing, close to the hot springs, and the house is large enough for a big family. It has a pool, and there were AC units in every room, though we didn’t need them when we could open the windows. Our unit leaked. The directions were good, but when we arrived there was no way to find the caretaker to get the keys. Luckily it was dinner time and we went to a nearby pizza place, where the guy knew who we needed. The caretaker handed over the keys and that was about it. Communication was minimal. She didn’t speak English or know much, and her son helped us figure out the Wi-Fi. The bathroom in our room was dirty, with urine around the toilet and a dirty mirror. There were four huge roaches in the shower that looked dead, but they were playing dead. My husband and cousin went in to remove them, then had to chase them down to kill them. I was already wary about renting houses in Costa Rica because of bugs, and the experience made sleeping difficult. There were ants all over the kitchen counter, and we weren’t sure the sheets were clean. It felt more like a hostel than a family rental. The internet was choppy, too. If you’re not a germaphobe, it’s a good location and has plenty of space. The pool was a plus, and maybe I just had an off experience. But I wouldn’t stay again unless the cleanliness improves.
