Hotel Monte Campana Escazu

Bring your own food and drinks, since it’s a long way to the store and they don’t sell any. There’s a shared kitchen and a large gathering room on the same level, plus a small pool and hot tub with a covered bar. It’s comfortable and would suit families, though it isn’t deluxe. The views are wonderful, and the staff are caring. Special thanks to Guillermo, who looks after the place and its guests. It’s a hidden gem for budget travelers, but taxi drivers have trouble finding it, so it’s better to arrive before dark.

Amazing views, and the place is gated. I’ve stayed three times now, walked around, and felt safe. Go for it, you won’t regret the experience.

Our group stayed here on the way to and from Shiroles for a missions trip. The stunning view and open atmosphere made it a terrific introduction to the wonderful city of San Jose. No question.

The view and price seem too good to be true, but you won’t regret staying here. I do wish the restroom had more privacy, maybe with a lock or something.
