Wyndham Tamarindo

I felt safe and comfortable here traveling on my own. The staff were welcoming, and the room and grounds were clean. I also really liked the local rides into town and to the beach club. Jairo, who booked the activities, was kind and honest, and handled a situation really well. The views were lovely and the pool was nice. I had a great stay!

We loved having an unobstructed ocean view from our room’s balcony. One day we spent at Langosta beach club, where guests can use the facilities, including the beach area and an infinity pool overlooking the beach. The buffet breakfast had lots of options, and the hotel’s hourly shuttle into town and the beach area was handy since the drive up the hill is quite steep. Wyndham Tamarindo is beautiful, with an infinity pool and ocean views from its hilltop location. We’d definitely stay again.

That $22 margarita felt way overpriced and took away from the experience. The free breakfast was standard, nothing special. Still, all the staff, from the front desk to the driver and housekeeping, were so kind and welcoming, and the sunset from the terrace was one of a kind. The hotel is a bit far from town, but its reliable shuttle runs there every hour, so getting around was easy. Free beach club access was a nice extra, and the complimentary water stations in the lobby were a thoughtful touch.

The food was absolutely delicious at breakfast and for lunch and dinner. Breakfast had a somewhat smaller selection than at five-star hotels I’ve stayed in, but it was still reasonable. The view is stunning, and the infinity pool is pretty cool. The bathrooms really need upgrades: there was mold low on the wall under the sink, which stayed damp from what seemed to be a leak, and water was standing in the corner between the sink and shower. The pool music was also so loud during the day that I couldn’t concentrate on my book, even in the room with the balcony doors shut.
