El Boleto Hostel

I stayed here for a week in early September and was met with kindness and excellent hospitality right from arrival. Jorge, who runs the hostel, is a really cool guy and made me feel welcome. My Spanish isn’t very good, but he and his staff helped me along, spoke with me in English, and suggested things to do in Heredia and the surrounding area. It’s affordable, clean, and the people are nice. Whenever I’m in Heredia or heading to the airport, this is my spot. Thanks, everyone, for making me feel at home.

The large private garden out back is beautiful, with plants, picnic tables, grass, and two grills. Inside, the hostel is spacious, clean, and pretty, and there’s a front porch that’s perfect for watching the sunset. Jorge, the owner and boss, is lovely and super helpful with anything you might need. It’s right downtown in Heredia near the park, restaurants, bars, and shops, and only a 20 minute bus ride to the hills. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed the city’s energy, and felt it throughout the hostel. El Boleto is right in the heart of Heredia, near the main park, school, and market. The room and bathroom were very clean, and the spacious backyard with hammocks and avocado trees was lovely. The staff were super friendly and helped me find my way around town. It’s a great fit if you want to stay near the airport or get more of a Costa Rican cultural feel. It’s also only a $5 Uber ride from central San Jose. I’ll definitely be back. Thanks, El Boleto!

I’m a long-term guest at El Boleto, and it’s comforting to call this place a temporary home. The staff are friendly, and the people who stay here seem warm and open-hearted. My favorite part is the beautiful garden and all the places to lounge and kick back. There are plenty of bathrooms, and everything is clean and tidy. The location is perfect if you want a less touristy feel. The Central Park and market are within walking distance, and the bus to San José is a short enough ride for trips to other beach or volcano destinations. Enjoy!
