Hotel Claro de Luna

This hotel is beautifully landscaped, almost like staying in a garden. The supermarket and the main town, where there's food, are a five-minute walk away. There's private parking behind a gate that's locked at night. Just be aware that breakfast choices are very limited.

Hotel Claro de Luna is close to downtown Santa Elena, but it still feels peaceful and magical. The gardens are lovely, and it's a great place to reconnect with nature. After hiking in the cloud forests, it was a pleasure to come back and rest. Service was impeccable and breakfast delicious. The rooms are elegant and cozy, with what you need for a comfortable stay. It's also a good base for Monteverde's main sights: the Monteverde Reserve, Santa Elena, and the Children's Eternal Forest are all 10-15 minutes away. A beautiful hotel surrounded by nature, and highly recommended for a Monteverde visit.

A peaceful oasis where it's easy to relax and recharge. Our room was spacious, clean, and functional, and breakfast was tasty. The service was friendly too. The one drawback was that the walls didn't block much sound.

We especially appreciated the thoughtful waste setup: there was a recycling bin in our room, and the other bins weren't lined with plastic bags. Tourism creates so much unnecessary plastic waste, so I wish more hotels did this. The rooms were huge and clean, with extremely comfortable beds. I've never seen such a thick mattress! The room also had a fridge and coffee machine, which was a nice surprise. Our water took a minute to get hot, then worked fine. Bug spray was available, though we didn't need it. Monteverde is high up and the weather was cool, so we didn't need AC either. Sitting on the veranda to listen to the birds was lovely. The garden is extensive and full of wildlife, especially butterflies, even though the town's amenities are only a short walk away. Staff were friendly and happy to help with anything. Breakfast wasn't a huge spread, but this isn't a 4- or 5-star hotel, and it was plentiful, fresh, and tasty. I'd definitely return to Claro de Luna. It's a great base for exploring Monteverde and brilliant value for money.
