A local from Samara suggested we drive to Punta Islita resort, where we bought a day pass for $70. The facilities and food were amazing, and the service made us feel like royalty. The staff remembered our names and brought drinks and food right to our lounge chairs all day. We loved the spectacular view and even spotted a Macaw. The ocean looked fun to swim in, but the waves were bigger than they seemed and tossed us around a bit. We had such a relaxing, fun-filled day.

Our honeymoon here was amazing. We loved the resort's food, and thought both the prices and the taste were good. Everything we ate was beautifully plated too, so I'm not sure why some reviews say the food isn't the best. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Antonio was a great bartender and server, attentive with a fun personality, and we loved having him look after us. Rodrigo drove us to and from the airport and was great. We enjoyed the monkey tour and the events at the museum in town. So glad we picked this hotel, and we can't wait to come back!

We spent five nights here in early May for a special occasion, and were thrilled with our stay. The staff at Punta Islita upgraded us to a villa with an amazing infinity pool, where we spent a lot of time. We also loved watching birds just outside our back door. This is a truly secluded spot, and getting there means tackling some pretty intense dirt roads, but it was worth it for us. The rainforest is all around, so expect insects and animals everywhere, and you'll hear at least ten different animals at any time of day. Some may even hang out on your back patio. It's hard to put the experience into words. There's not much to do besides relax, which was exactly what we needed. The weather was mostly sunny or partly cloudy each day, with rain most nights. One thing I wasn't prepared for was the humidity. You'll want to stay near water. If rustic luxury is what you're after, this is the place.

The setting is gorgeous, surrounded by lush greenery with incredible ocean views, and the sunset was magical. We had delicious meals at the restaurants, and seeing the wildlife was a highlight. There were plenty of ways to spend the day, from zip-lining, kayaking, and the turtle expedition to relaxing spa treatments. The staff went out of their way to make the stay unforgettable. We loved Punta Islita and would highly recommend it. Special thanks to Gerald, Mario, and the rest of the team. Jorge, our adventure guide, was fantastic and knew his stuff. He took us horseback riding, ziplining, kayaking, monkey spotting, and on a sea turtle expedition, one of the highlights of our trip.

We loved the food, the beautiful beach, and the warm, friendly people. Islita itself is adorable, and we saw hotel staff working around town too. There are plenty of activities nearby, and we always felt safe and welcome. The hotel sits on a very steep hill with lots of steps. Our first room was almost at the bottom, so without a car you should expect a climb or ask for a ride. My wife and I visited in February 2025 with another couple. They stayed in the honeymoon suite, which was very nice, while we had a two-bedroom villa with an ocean view. The view was mostly of a local cell tower, though we could see the ocean from the patio if we stood up. The room seemed untouched since it was built and needed a deep clean. Fixtures looked more than 20 years old, and the mattresses were about two inches thick on slats, more like sleeping on cots. After the first night, I contacted the manager and they moved us to a much better room, although it was much smaller. Other reviews mention this problem, so check the room's condition before booking if you can, or be prepared. The location and beach are beautiful, but some rooms are overdue for remodeling.
