I did enjoy the pool, and the grounds are nice, though they don't look as good as the photos. At $500 a night, I expected better service and amenities. They didn't even offer free coffee or water at check-in. They forgot to bring my bags when I arrived and to collect them when I left, so both times I had to walk over and handle them myself. The food and drinks were very expensive and not good, and the beach wasn't nice. I've had better stays at a Spring Hills Suite.

There was lots to do while we were there, including a small vendor market with local jewelry, art, and crafts, plus a live band and karaoke at night. The resort is stunning, with well-kept landscaping, lots of paths and trails, a huge well-maintained pool, and plenty of wildlife. Our rooms were really nice, and we got an anointing room that worked perfectly for our group. The staff were kind and helpful. The beach isn't the best since it sits on a cove. This is a very family-friendly hotel, with lots of kids around, so it may not suit someone looking for an adults-only feel. I believe they do have private swim-up rooms that are for adults only.

The hotel's food was the main letdown. For the prices, the quality didn't measure up, especially with nearby options around. I'd suggest going to the local village to eat. Getting around was easy, with Ubers readily available, and you can rent bikes to ride to the nearby resort village and check out its restaurants and other spots. The beach is easy to reach, and fishing right from shore was a fun and unusual experience. Cabanas were reasonably priced and made time by the pool more comfortable. The facilities are stunning, especially the large pool, which has several sections and quiet corners so it doesn't feel overwhelming even when busy. They also had volleyball and aqua aerobics. It's a beautiful, relaxing property on Costa Rica's west coast, about 90 minutes from San Jose.

We had an amazing college spring break at Los Sueños, staying with three friends in a beautiful, relaxed bay with easy access to Jacó nightlife. We spotted monkeys at the marina, and had delicious meals at every hotel restaurant, both marina restaurants, and Dolce Vita. The staff really made the trip. Everyone was warm and welcoming, offered great ideas for things to do and places to visit, and made the experience even better. Gretchen and Henry at Bar Ocho were especially kind, as were Javier at the cafe and Ranses and Luis at Zoe. We loved the stay and the friendly atmosphere at Los Sueños. ¡Pura Vida!

The service was unbelievably bad, and the place seems well past its prime. At dinner on our first night, we waited nearly half an hour just to see a server after being seated, then another hour for food that was deep-fried and frozen. It was inedible, as was the food in general. Our package included breakfast, but after the first morning we went into town for something decent. Kayak and paddle board use were included too, yet we were treated as if asking to use them was a huge burden. The price was outrageous: that frozen fried dinner cost $95, our most expensive meal in Costa Rica and the least edible. So disappointing. Don't stay here.
