Arenal Hostel Resort Towers

I had a wonderful three-night stay in a shared all-female dorm. At $10 a night, it was great for the price, and the hostel’s central location made everything convenient. The staff were the highlight, especially Christopher, who was so welcoming. The outdoor pavilion and communal kitchen were well kept. If you’re backpacking or traveling solo, I’d recommend it. Just keep in mind it’s a hostel, not a hotel. TVs and kitchens in the room aren’t advertised luxuries here.

There were ants all over the room, including on the walls and bed, and throughout the bathroom. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, felt neglected and in poor condition.

The room was damp and smelled musty, and the shower had such weak pressure that water sprayed everywhere and made it hard to wash. The room and bathroom were worn, with damaged things and poor hygiene. It was a small room without a TV or minibar. Finding the hostel was difficult since there was no sign showing where it was. We stayed for a weekend, and only one person asked if we were looking for it. Its location is a real plus, though, right in the center of La Fortuna and close to the shops and businesses.

The staff were attentive and genuinely lovely. David was especially charming, with interesting stories, and gave us honest, selfless advice about which tours were worthwhile, based on what would be best for us. The hostel is well located, with plenty nearby and lots of suggestions from the staff for places to go. The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms were adequate. There’s also a pool and bar area, plus a welcome drink. Things get calm and quiet after 10:00 PM. If you’re looking for a hostel in Arenal, this is a place to stay. The service really stood out.
