Asha Hostel

We spent two weeks here and would definitely come back. The owner was friendly and the service was good, and the pets wandering around really brightened everyone's day. The rooms were great, with big windows that let cool air in at night, and each bed had a little fan. The kitchen deserves a mention on its own. I've never had a hostel kitchen so well equipped, with plenty of room and lots of basic ingredients already there for cooking. We could even see the volcano from the kitchen.

We thought the hostel was a great base for the area's hot springs, hikes, waterfalls, and wildlife outings, especially with a car. We originally booked one night but liked the hostel and area so much we stayed four. It's a social place where you can chat in the kitchen or lobby, but it got quiet around bedtime. We had the female dorm to ourselves, and it was only around $3 more per night than the mixed dorm next door. The beds were large and comfortable, with reading lights, a large cubby nearby, and an even bigger side cubby that could fit two large backpacks. Lockers were just outside the room. There was also a little table and two chairs inside, handy for private work with the door closed. We cooked breakfast and dinner in the kitchen every day. It had burners, a microwave, fridge, freezer, toaster oven, and dishes. The owner was very sweet, and we loved talking with him at the hostel and at his Indian cuisine restaurant across the street, India. His tea cup poodle puppy was adorable and guests could play with it. The food there was delicious, and he gave us a really good discount for staying at the hostel. He also owns the grocery store next door, so snacks and drinks are close by. Loved this place, and I'll be back someday.

I've stayed here several times for business and met lovely people from around the world. It has a warm, friendly feel that makes it easy to settle in. The hostel is spacious, the rooms are very clean, and the facilities are well maintained. It's peaceful while still being close to shops and activities, with a handy mini market right next door. At the back there's a hookah bar where travelers gather, relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and share stories. Great value for money.

Dnyan, the owner, is a traveler himself and one of the nicest hosts. We met so many lovely people here, and I loved his dogs and cat! The hostel is welcoming and well priced, with a well equipped kitchen for cooking your own meals. The location in La Fortuna is great. There are a few nice restaurants right outside, including one that's part of the hostel, as well as its minimart and hookah bar.
