Aunty Arenal Lodge

The owner was such a sweetheart. We called him Abuelo (Grandpa), and he waited up each night to close the gate, which made us feel safe. The pools were beautiful, and you can get a full breakfast for only $8. There's also a chocolate and coffee tour nearby. The rooms could use some updating, and we spotted a few bugs here and there, but that's part of being in the mountains. It was a beautiful place, and I'd stay again.

The best part was the view of arenal volcano. Our rooms were clean, had what we needed, and the place felt extremely safe. We didn't use the pools, though they looked amazing, and the terrace above them was really comfortable. We booked at the very last minute and had a great experience. I just wish they accepted card payment on site, instead of requiring sinpe or a payment link. Breakfast was really good.

We stayed for five days and enjoyed every minute. The staff were great and helpful, and the breakfast, which wasn't included in the price, was freshly made each morning and really good. My kids loved the pool and the volcano view, and we all enjoyed seeing and interacting with the animals around the property. The location is off the main road but still close to everything. It was a great stay, and we made wonderful memories. Thank you!

The place was quiet except for noise from the neighbors. Ours were really loud, and we could hear them as if they were in our living room. Luckily, we were out all day and only heard them in the morning while we were still trying to sleep. The rooms were spacious, the beds were good, and we slept comfortably. There was a small laundry area, hot water for showers, a nice roomy fridge, and plenty of household utensils. We had a two-pool area that was pretty empty most of the time. The older lady and Laura were really nice. Be sure to fluff the beds, as we found spiders. That was okay for us since we know these things happen in another country, but it could be a big issue for some. There were also little black ants in the bathroom, so don't leave food out or they'll swarm it. I chose the place for our family trip because it was convenient for the spots we wanted to visit, and within walking distance of local markets and restaurants. Overall it was a good stay.
