The volcano view is great, and the place is very clean. We were given a replacement fan right away when ours fell apart, no questions asked, and the people running the place were really nice. It's good value, just outside town where it's calmer. The shower drain smelled a bit, and roaches came out at night. We stuffed a towel in the drain to keep down the smell and bugs. I'd recommend it for a cheap short stay.
We stayed in room #6 and had everything we needed. It was quiet, nice, and very clean, and the people looking after the place were friendly. The washer was a handy amenity. I'd book it again when we come back.
Olga, the host, is kind and thoughtful, and the place was clean and cozy. I liked being a little off the beaten path while still close enough to walk to the city park. La Fortuna's center is about 1 km away, and there's a supermarket, a great local coffee house, and good restaurants just a block from the lodging.
You can hear everything through the walls, even the neighbors farting. These were the noisiest rooms I've ever heard. The owner lives next door and apparently likes to sing, then gets up early and starts shouting. Late night TVs are there to keep you company. Don't stay here if you want quiet or a chance to relax.
This isn't really a hotel, more of a side business run by a woman and her son. They're very sweet and helpful.
