Casona Rústica & Bungalow

Breakfast was very good and came out quickly, and the service was good. My one-bedroom room was clean and comfortable for the two nights I stayed, and it was easy to adjust the temperature. The roads nearby aren’t very walkable, and the walls are thin enough that you can hear everything. I was near the front desk and got woken early. Some people rent the bungalows with children, and a child was screaming outside the window of a bungalow across from me while I was trying to sleep. Not exactly lovely, lol.

Everything I wanted to visit in the area was close by. This is a very nice little place outside the city, with clean rooms and most of the staff friendly and helpful. Just ignore the grumpy one. I’d definitely come back.

We felt right at home here and had a wonderful stay. The surroundings and animals gave the place a bit of magic, and the food was delicious. The staff were so kind and friendly, with a real eye for detail. Wi-Fi worked very well, and the location was good. Mr. Erick, the manager, was attentive whenever we had questions. It was our first trip to Costa Rica, and communication was excellent throughout. We’d definitely return.

The shower could use a couple of practical fixes: the handheld head had no holder, and there wasn’t a place to put toiletries. A mount and shelf would help. Aside from that, I really liked my bungalow at Hotel Tangara Arenal. Plants and trees surrounded it, and the outdoor seating was great for reading or relaxing in the rain. We were there in the wet season, so the usual afternoon showers came down hard. The metal roof made the rain loud, but I found it soothing, like white noise. The room was spacious, with a smart TV, mini fridge, and work area. Although another bungalow was nearby, we hardly saw or heard anyone. The hotel is easy to find on the main road to town. You do need a car or taxi to get around; we had a car, so it was simple. Breakfast was included and served plated at the restaurant on site. We ate there each day and had dinner there one evening too, and the food was tasty. It felt safe and peaceful, with a police station nearby. Great value, and I’d recommend it for its quiet atmosphere and convenient access to activities.
