Hotel El Silencio del Campo

The hot springs were a real highlight, so clear and relaxing, and there’s a sloth on site that staff can help you find. We stayed in “La Casita,” which had enough space for our family of five and a kitchen for making some of our own meals. We could hear a little noise from the neighboring maintenance building, but it didn’t bother us much. Breakfast was decent, though service could be slow. We were on Tico Time and didn’t mind. Pura Vida! Highly recommend.

We loved the farm and gardens, especially meeting the donkeys and watching birds wander around. There are garden paths for bird watching, too. The staff were kind, and the food was good, with vegetarian options the kids enjoyed. Mauricio arranged safe, convenient transportation for us to San Jose. Our cabin had three beds, was clean and spacious, and the AC worked well. We also liked the patio for sitting or watching birds. The hot springs have about five pools, including a cold pool and a jacuzzi, with room to relax privately or eat by the pool. A special place for families or couples, and I’d stay again.

The animals made it feel extra special. We petted the horses, sheep, and pig, and became friends with the cows. The staff were so kind and accommodating. There were hot springs and cool pools, lovely grounds, a great volcano view, and really good food. The place was clean and beautiful. Couldn’t recommend it more.

The farm is worth visiting to see the animals, including cows, chickens, horses, peacocks, and even sloths in the trees. Staff were very nice and helpful, and the beautiful grounds showed how much care they put into the wildlife, especially when they leave fruit in the trees at breakfast time. Our room was spacious and clean, and Ubers to the town center took only a few minutes. WiFi was very slow; the front desk said they’d send someone to fix it, but nobody came. We weren’t at the hotel during the day anyway, and took every chance to enjoy the hot springs, even in the rain. Breakfast had a limited menu, but it was delicious.
