Hotel Kokoro Mineral Hot Springs

We had a few lovely soaks in the mineral springs after dinner, and they felt like the real thing. The grounds are beautiful, breakfast was super tasty, and I looked forward to it each morning. The hotel staff were wonderful and helpful. Long picked us up at the airport and waited two hours in the rain like a champ, and the front desk was accommodating whenever we needed anything. Our charming room had a comfortable bed, and the AC and fans worked great. A couple of geckos came by at night to say hey. All in all, a great experience. I’d happily return!

We were a family of six, with two kids and two grandparents, and the rustic cabin with its porch gave us a lovely place to relax and admire a breathtaking view of the Arenal Volcano. Hotel Kokoro Mineral Spring made us feel at home through the warmth and hospitality of the staff. Breakfast each morning had fresh local dishes, tropical fruit, baked goods, and cereal, and we appreciated being able to reserve a satisfying dinner too. The property sits a little farther from the main road, which made it quiet and peaceful. Its natural hot spring is tucked into the forest, and soaking in the steaming mineral water while listening to birds and monkeys was magical. We stayed four nights and kept saying we’d picked the best hotel. The breakfast was delicious, the beds comfortable, and each time the staff cleaned our room they made lovely towel art with flower petals. The jungle around the rooms is fun to look at. We saw other hotels with hot springs that felt busier and more geared to families. For an affordable, beautiful stay with more privacy, I recommend this place 100%. The hot springs are beautiful, and the cold pool has a gorgeous volcano view.

Breakfast was the best of the four hotel breakfasts we had, and the on-site restaurant had good dinner choices at reasonable prices. We loved having hot springs at the property to enjoy at the end of the day. They drain them and pump in fresh water from the thermal springs at 9:00 each day, which may explain why another commenter thought they were closed. We drove past some other places advertising hot springs, and they looked like a zoo, so I was glad we found this one. Our family of four, including two teenage boys, stayed two nights. The location was central for the Arenal area. The room had two full-size beds, I think, though they seemed cozier than queens, plus a twin so the boys didn’t have to share. The grounds were very well kept, and we saw lots of wildlife, including a sloth. In the mornings the mountain was clearly visible from our front porch.
