Le Petit Hotel

We only had a few days in La Fortuna, and this worked really well for us. It was easy to walk into town for meals and convenient for tour pickups. The rooms have their own bathrooms and A/C, with a shared kitchen and pool. Staff were kind and happy to answer our questions, and the price was hard to beat. It felt like a safe place for a couple or solo traveler to leave belongings while out exploring.

After a long day, the clean, refreshing pool was a welcome spot to cool off. Le Petit is also good value and just a short walk from town, though I’d call for a ride at night because the road gets very busy. In daytime, walking was fine. The staff were kind and helpful, and my simple, very clean room had everything I needed.

The little outdoor kitchen and seating area beside the small pool make the compact property feel inviting, and they use the limited space well. My room was right beside the busy main road toward the La Fortune waterfall, so there was traffic noise. Downtown la Fortuna is walkable in about 15 to 20 minutes. I stayed two nights and found everything I needed for a short visit. If you want somewhere to spend the whole day hanging out, this may not be the place, but I’d definitely return.

Warner and Mathilde are the real highlight, warm, attentive owners who want guests to have a memorable time and will suggest things to do even on a budget. For a comfortable stay, the rooms have A/C and a private bathroom; there’s also a TV, though I personally didn’t care about that. The hotel is close to pretty much everything in La Fortuna downtown, including restaurants, a supermarket, pharmacy and gas station. Guests can use the fully equipped outdoor kitchen with a fridge and freezer, and there’s a gas BBQ if you want to buy some of the great local meat. The small pool is fed by natural spring water. Since it’s on a main street, passing cars can be heard. Ask for a room at the back for better sleep, or bring earplugs like I do. I’ll stay here again for sure. Have fun!
