Lost Iguana Resort and Spa

Waking up to a direct view of the volcano was incredible, and the outdoor shower was a favorite. Our room was beautiful, with decor that suited the rainforest setting. The hotel is beside Mistico Park, which made the 6 am birdwatching hike easy to get to, and the restaurant was excellent too. Such a cool hotel. Highly recommend it in La Fortuna!

The view from our clean, comfortable room, RM 16, of Arenal Volcano and the grounds was phenomenal. The warm and cold pools were fun for my kids, ages 5 and 12. Nicole at the desk was a sweetheart and made me several muy rico cappuccinos. The grounds and service were spectacular. A couple of small things: the gift shop was very bare, and we wanted more choices and basic supplies since it's so far from town. The bathroom lighting also needs work. There's no light over the shower, so showering after dark was difficult. Still, we loved Lost Iguana and highly recommend it.

We came with our 3-year-old and 2-year-old and found a beautiful resort with plenty to see and do. It's about a 30-minute drive into La Fortuna. The staff were patient, attentive, and wonderful with the kids, and we saw lots of animals. If you're visiting, coordinate with the hotel staff about going to the hot springs. The rooms were practical and laid out well. We fit two toddler mattresses with hiccapop tents, had a lovely volcano view, and the AC worked great. The gym is small and simple, with yoga mats, a treadmill, a few bikes, and a few kettlebells. Breakfast was a delicious complimentary buffet with some changes each day and lots of choices the kids liked. The restaurant also had fresh, flavorful food and a big GF menu. Both the hot and cold pools were clean and well maintained. There was a shallow section in the hot pool that wasn't too warm for the little ones. The cold pool was great, though not shallow enough for them. The PUMA TREK was a lovely, easy hike even with small kids. We're experienced hikers and brought carriers because we didn't know the terrain. The kids rode in them for most of it, but could also walk the trail easily. I'd recommend the night hike too, even with little ones if you can carry them, to see snakes, frogs, and other wildlife. Great for couples, solo travelers, or families.

The property is stunning, and prices for food and laundry were very reasonable. But the staff made the experience. They were incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating, and really lifted our stay. I'd absolutely come back!
