Sueno Dorado Hotel & Hot Springs

The owner decided to reserve all the rooms for a large group, so when I arrived they couldn't find my reservation. After I explained that I'd booked through Airbnb, the front desk put me in the main house. They described it as three rooms, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen and two bathrooms, which sounded like a good deal. But when we looked around, we found an old house with a fresh coat of paint and a lot of problems: the main breaker box and outlets had no covers, one bathroom had no light or hot water, there was no air conditioning, only wall fans, and the kitchen's upper window had metal bars instead of glass. The old appliances were oxidized. I contacted the host and asked for a refund because of the issues. He said I'd paid for a room with three beds and was now getting a large house with three rooms, six beds and three bathrooms, and refused to refund me. He claimed the house was in great condition, but he clearly didn't care about its condition. He hadn't held the room for me, and sent me to a house with all these problems while acting like it was a great deal. I sent pictures to Airbnb and filed a claim, but Airbnb never helped. They earn money from the host. Check the pictures yourself. The owner will lie to your face. Don't deal with him or you'll pay the consequences.

The facilities looked disorganized and poorly maintained, and the lighting made the property feel dark and uncomfortable. In the room, the cleaning was so poor that I couldn't check in, and mold was coming out of the air conditioning unit. That's unhealthy and unacceptable in a hotel. For the price and what I expected, I was very disappointed. Expedia listed this as a 4-star hotel, boo!!! I lost my money, but decided to leave. It was horrible, and I wouldn't recommend staying at Sueño Dorado Hotel.

The pools were okay, though the fountain felt cold when we first got in and then suddenly got hotter, as if the pools were being heated artificially. The room itself was a good size with a large bed, but it was dated, with grimy surfaces and a poor cleaning job. There was old food in the fridge, which we gave to staff, though they didn't seem to care. When I turned on the shower, debris left by the previous occupant washed down toward the drain. Dinner was just okay. Breakfast was limited, and there was no juice.

The pools were fantastic, nicely arranged and enjoyable, with pretty gardens around them. That made the contrast with the plain building and rooms even more striking. We tried the place for one night, and it felt like a motel with hot spring pools. The rooms were clean but dated and bare. There was no fridge, desk or chairs, and the functional bathroom was dated too. The AC looked new, though we didn't need to use it. Breakfast wasn't fancy, but we enjoyed it. The people were very pleasant, so I feel a bit bad saying this, but they have enough land to tear down the building and replace it with something much nicer.
