Hotel La Cueva De Lima N

Sitting by the water and hearing the waves was so relaxing. It’s a nice, simple place. Breakfast could be better, but I have no complaints.

The only real bright spot was the thorough cleaning, and the shower had good pressure and warm water. The rest of the stay was awful. I’d never recommend this place. I stayed a few days because they had already withdrawn my money the day before, and they wouldn’t refund it. At checkout, staff inspected the room and counted the towels and remote controls. On arrival, the place looked badly in need of an update. The chairs in the “lobby” were disgusting, and there was a problem with my Expedia reservation because the hotel and Expedia systems apparently weren’t communicating. There’s no safe for belongings, and the hotel apparently takes no responsibility for anything lost or stolen. The hotel has two levels and no elevator, so I had to carry my things up a flight of stairs. The room was mediocre, with tiny room and bathroom. The sheets looked like they could have come from Goodwill. The so-called pillows felt like hard rocks in pillowcases, and the mattresses were awful. There was a step into the bathroom and another one up to the toilet. The towels were thin and stained. Breakfast was included, but I wouldn’t come back to stay or eat there even if it were free. It was the same monotonous meal every day, and it wasn’t very good: unseasoned rice and beans, white cheese, two slices of tomato, eggs, two slices of bread, and one thin slice each of papaya and pineapple. There were no condiments on the table. When we asked for one more slice of bread, they charged us 1000 crc, equivalent to $1.50. The pool looked like the hotel’s best feature, but I didn’t use it.

The staff were very nice, and the view was lovely. It’s a peaceful place I’d say is worth visiting, about 1.5 miles from the cruise ship dock.

The beds were comfortable, and the bungalow-style place is very pretty. Showers had hot water.
