The two nearby waterfalls make for lovely walks, and there’s an animal rescue center on site. It’s a beautiful spot to unwind. Getting there means driving 17 km up a dirt road, but it’s worth it.

There aren’t many places nearby to buy food, but the kitchen has everything you need. The rooms are comfortable and really nice. It’s a long, winding drive to San Jose. Set in the jungle, the place has plenty of wild animals close by, and I found the butterfly garden fascinating. The Wildlife Recovery Center is very good too, though I happened to visit on a day when almost all the volunteers were off work.
