Casa Frangipani

The pool was beautiful, and everything was very clean and well kept. From this spot above Montezuma there’s a great view of the ocean and greenery, with toucans, monkeys, and all sorts of birds to watch. The road is very steep, so walking down isn’t a good idea. Definitely recommend!

We stayed in the “treehouse,” apt 4, and the balcony was a magical place for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. Roomy couches look out over the ocean through the treetops, and there’s another beautiful view from the outdoor dining area off the living room. The apartment is ideal for a couple, with a large bedroom, nice bathroom, and a good kitchen and dining room. I loved the private outdoor shower off the main bedroom, such a treat after a dip in the always-available shared pool. There are loungers under flowering vines, perfect for a nap or a bit of reading. Walmer is on site to help, and he’s a genuinely nice, helpful guy. It’s about a five-minute drive from Montezuma. The road is bumpy and the hill is very steep, so walking is probably rough, but a cab or bus should be an option. Highly recommend.

The villa and the well-kept property were beautiful. If you want a private, well-equipped place to relax in peace, surrounded by nature and animals, this fits. There’s a lovely view, and toucans even came to our kitchen window. Johnson, the young caretaker, was great. The morning trail walk to the waterfalls is worth doing, and we did yoga on the rooftop and watched the stars and night sky up there.

Casa Frangipani may be our favorite place we’ve ever stayed. The grounds were stunning, the balcony views gorgeous, and the pool peaceful. We saw toucans, white faced coati, and owls on the property, and the staff went out of their way to make things perfect. There’s AC in the bedroom. Just know the dirt road up is very steep, so bring a vehicle that can handle it.
