The place was clean and pleasant, with nice landscaping and a well-kept pool. There’s outdoor exercise equipment that uses your own body weight. The shower was powerful with good hot water, the bed was firm, and the air conditioning worked well enough, though our unit was noisy. The restaurant was okay, but TVs were blasting sports much of the time, which some people may enjoy. The restaurant manager was especially friendly and did his best to teach us Spanish. My main issue was arranging the stay. There was no English-speaking front desk staff, so reserving by phone was a nightmare, and we weren’t sure they had our booking until we arrived. The big booking companies said there were no rooms for our dates, but that turned out not to be true. There’s no website for booking directly, and they wouldn’t take my Visa number over the phone. Eventually they offered a bank transfer from Canada, but it would have cost a $45 service charge. If you stay here, there’s a great high end steak House called the Grill House very close by.

The rooms were clean but very basic, and the air conditioning was so loud that it wasn’t really usable while sleeping. We were waiting close to 30 minutes just to be served at reception. The receptionist spent over 15 minutes checking in a large group, then chose to help someone who had clearly cut in front of us to ask about availability. She chatted with that guest while we waited. If I hadn’t paid online already, I would have left for another place. Fortunately, we only had to stay one night.

The greenery inside the property is the only thing that still saves it. I came back after staying here a year ago, when it wasn’t perfect but I chose it for the pool and green surroundings. Now it’s become unbearable. The rooms and bathrooms are ugly, and the service is basically absent. I had no hot water, and when I mentioned it, they just said, “Oh yes, that room doesn’t have hot water.”

I’ve stayed here five times, and this is the perfect Costa Rican hotel. If you need WiFi, ask for one of the first 50 rooms. The mosquitoes will help you eat dinner, and it’s good the A/C works to chase the ants away. If you can’t get into your room, the staff will help. Good luck.

Lovely gardens and a great pool. The room was nice and clean, with good A/C and hot water. The restaurant food was good too.
