Burnt Toast Surfcamp

We wanted to like it, even after reading the reviews, but our stay didn't work out. The kitchen and rooms were decent enough, though the price didn't feel justified. We booked a surf lesson and several days of board rentals, but the boards arrived much later than expected and weren't well cared for. The lesson never happened: our instructor was already half an hour late, hadn't asked our level, and was surprised to learn we were better surfers than he expected. He'd left his own board behind, so we couldn't go out. Check-in was another problem, since nobody was there to help when we arrived, even though we'd shared our arrival time. I'd spend the money elsewhere.

The room was okay, but it felt very old and poorly maintained. It's a long way from everything, too. I think the price should be at least $10 lower.

For travelers looking for affordable lodging, this is a good option. I was nervous after reading the reviews, but my seven-day stay went smoothly. The bed was comfortable, the AC worked well, and the bathroom was clean. I used the kitchen fridge and stove, and both worked fine. Honestly, I had nothing to complain about.

The hostel was the cheapest in the area, but I still wouldn't recommend it. It was dirty, there was no toilet paper or soap, and rain came through the dorm roof. Staff were unbelievably unfriendly and never replied to my messages. At check-in, it was difficult to find anyone because the place seemed empty and abandoned.
