We didn’t stay the night. Within 30 minutes of arriving, we left because the accommodation was dirty and uninhabitable. There were dead bugs in every corner, bugs in the bed, black mold under the shelving and across the walls and ceiling, spiderwebs in the shower, and stains on the sheets and pillows. Nobody was there to welcome us. When we called the owner, he hung up, and our follow-ups through WhatsApp and Booking.com went unanswered. We had to book another place that same night. After leaving, we looked at Google reviews and found similar complaints from other guests, so this seems like it may not be an isolated incident. We booked via Booking.com with my partner account.

The room hadn’t even been cleaned before I arrived, and the bed and breakfast conditions made me leave. The building looked abandoned, up on a hill in the middle of nowhere with nothing accessible and no one to contact once you get there. I sent several texts and emails and never heard back. In the end, I disputed the charge with my credit card and got a full refund.

The bed was SOOO uncomfortable, my only complaint. Everything else was lovely, and it was perfect for us. The rooms are big with a wonderful balcony, and it feels more like a private home than a resort. The breakfast is prepared onsite. For the price, it’s a good location, and if you want somewhere quiet and out of the way, I’d recommend it. You’ll need a car for convenience, and a 4x4 to get up the driveway in rainy season.

The drive in is challenging, so an SUV is a good idea. Once we got there, it felt like a hidden gem, with a lovely property tucked so close to nature. We saw a snake and iguanas, which was amazing. Breakfast was delicious, and they took our food intolerances and preferences into account. I’d definitely recommend it if you want to slow down, relax, and be close to nature.

The dog bite was the worst part of our stay. Our three-year-old was bitten on the hand while my husband was right beside her. She had bruising and broken skin, and the owners never apologized for the unprovoked bite. At the hospital, we were told to ask the hotel or dog owner to confirm the dog's rabies and tetanus vaccination, since the bite broke skin. A dozen texts and five calls went unanswered. It was very concerning that we couldn't confirm whether the dog was vaccinated or whether its shots were current. For a bite that breaks the skin and bleeds, you may need post-exposure tetanus or rabies injections. There were other problems too: the toilet was broken, there were three wasp nests on our bungalow, and the pool was murky and dirty. The driveway is extremely steep and hard to manage in the dark. There was no receptionist and no staff on site except for a short check-in window at 2pm. The dog owner and hotel owner didn't care about our concerns. UPDATE: The hotel took only a few minutes to respond to my review, condescendingly, while our requests for help took ages or got no response. The claim that we weren't with our daughter when the dog bit her was a lie. There was shampoo and conditioner in the shower, but absolutely no hand soap, so we used our own hand sanitizer. Read the negative reviews and the hotel's snarky responses. They show the defensiveness, mocking replies, and lack of accountability you could face as a guest. Take our advice and spend a little extra for a safe place with kinder, present hosts.
