The team at The Sendero was wonderful, from the front desk and servers to the general manager. We had one snafu, and the GM handled it very well. We appreciated his calm, helpful manner. We loved the hotel and the breakfasts and lunches at its restaurant, one of the better places in town. It has a stylish, relaxed feel, which suited us as hotel guests who weren't looking for a fancy dinner. The location worked well, near restaurants but away from the bustle, and just a short walk from a good surf break and sunset spot. Guest rooms are nicely decorated, with large windows or outdoor space. The jungle rooms have a great outdoor shower and sitting area. The smaller rooms are beautiful too, though their queen beds looked more like doubles. I'd choose a jungle room. It's a good fit for solo travelers or couples. The pool area is lovely but small, and doesn't have enough space for kids to hang around. There's a nice yoga room for classes, stretching, or bodyweight workouts. We preferred the gym at Yoga Bohdi Resort and bought a weekly pass. It's a 15-minute walk along dirt roads. The roads are dusty and unpaved, so leave the cute sandals at home. You'll get used to it. We loved Sendero Hotel!

The staff made this place feel special. Before I arrived, they helped sort out transportation and were quick to respond. The bartenders and servers were all lovely, and turndown service was a simple but nice touch. I stayed in a jungle room, and although the outdoor shower caught me off guard at first, I ended up loving it. The hotel is gorgeous and thoughtfully designed, close to things but off the main drag, with the beach just steps away. The food looked beautiful too, and I especially liked the avocado toast and açaí bowl at breakfast. A couple small things could be improved. I missed having tissues in the room. The curtains don't span the whole window because the rod is too short, so the room gets light very early. I also found it a little unsettling that someone could potentially see into the room, even though the back opens onto literal jungle, it seemed unlikely, and I felt safe. Extending the curtain rod would make a big difference. I'm surprised no one else mentioned it in reviews. Still, I loved Sendero.

We stayed in the three-bedroom villa, a bright, open space with a lovely view of the Greenbelt. It was easy to spend time together while still having room to spread out, and we actually made use of the well-equipped kitchen. The outdoor showers were a treat. From there, the beach is a five-minute walk through the mangroves, with beautiful sunsets. The staff stood out most. They were warm, attentive, and seemed to check in at just the right times without being intrusive. The service felt especially thoughtful throughout our stay. We also loved the restaurant, which became one of our favorite meals in Nosara, and enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and overall experience. We made good use of the hotel's facilities too, especially the yoga classes and surf activities. It made the trip feel both fun and restorative. Already looking forward to coming back next year!

The food was outstanding, and there were always little snacks and fruit available for guests to nibble on. The soaps, shampoo, and conditioner were high quality too, and the care in the details was impressive. I loved the yoga studio and pool. The staff were so warm and friendly, always seeming ready to help. While I was checking out, the couple ahead of me said they'd had an incredible stay, and I felt the same. Their friendliness also got guests mingling and chatting, which was lovely to see.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Sendero and had such a great time. The staff were friendly and helpful, and thanks to the surf school, we both caught our very first waves. The fitness classes were all fantastic. We also enjoyed the complimentary coffee and bread each morning, and the restaurant food was delicious. Our favorite dish from the whole trip was the crispy tuna rice appetizer. We hope to return soon and enjoy that Pura Vida feeling again!
