Hotel El Amanecer

Our tour group found the room setup worked perfectly, and the whole place had a bit of a summer camp feel. The owners took such good care of us, even offering remedies when someone in our group got sick. A few rooms have fans and some don’t, though Monteverde gets cool at night. We also caught a beautiful sunset from the hotel, and breakfast was delicious. It’s a quaint spot close to everything in Monteverde.

The wooden walls, ceiling, and floor give the place a rustic feel, and the rooms are clean, classic, and comfortable. It seems especially suited to students or larger groups. Service was very good, the staff were nice, and the food was awesome. It’s fairly near downtown, with plenty of restaurants, bars, and other services. I’d recommend it if you’re visiting Monteverde on a budget. I stayed one night.

It’s a small, welcoming hotel with comfortable, authentic rooms, friendly staff, and outstanding cooking. Shops and restaurants are just a short walk away. There’s one central staircase serving two floors and around 20 rooms, so it doesn’t feel secluded or especially private. For a group, though, it’s a great fit. I’d be eager to stay again in Monteverde with a small or medium-sized group.

The shared area made it fun to hang out with friends, and the village of Monteverde was just a 5-10 minute stroll away. That location made this my favourite place on the whole trip. It felt cabin-like, and I found the rooms and bathrooms clean. You can hear through the walls, but for a school trip it was great. The staff were so amable, making breakfast early for us and giving us a warm welcome. If you’re from somewhere well developed like the USA or Canada, don’t expect a resort.
