The gardens, mountain scenery, natural pool, and even the friendly dogs made Rancho de Lelo feel like a peaceful little retreat. My family and I walked the dirt road and spotted lots of birds, butterflies, and monkeys. There’s also a soccer field. Beatriz made us feel welcome right away and shared plenty of useful local tips. Our cabin was clean, cozy, and thoughtfully furnished, with balconies looking out over the quiet landscape. Fans were enough to keep things comfortable, and the mountain nights were cool. Breakfast was generous and fresh, with tropical fruit and fried eggs, along with homemade hot sauce, marmalade, and coffee. This family-run eco-lodge sits in the San Luis Valley, about a 20-minute drive from Monteverde. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend it. Thank you to Beatriz and family.

The rooms were spacious and clean, though a bit dated, and the ecolodge covered the basic needs. The women running it were very kind and helped us arrange a tour. Monteverde is about 20-25 minutes away, so plan for the drive.

The gardens were lush, and our clean, spacious cabin had a lovely mountain view from its balcony. Lelo, Beatriz, and Natalia welcomed us warmly and were helpful, kind, and professional. There’s a mineral spring water pool, strong WiFi, assigned free parking, and breakfast is served from 7-9am, with dinner at 6pm. Laundry costs $5/kg. The dirt road from the highway to the lodge is quite long. Thanks for a great stay, highly recommended.

The family who runs this place makes it special. They’re so welcoming that you feel at home as soon as you arrive. It’s a beautiful, quiet setting where you can really switch off, and the breakfast was amazing.

We were staying at a nearby Airbnb and our hosts suggested dinner here. Rancho do Lelo turned out to be a highlight, with a welcoming introduction to the place and menu from the owners. The food was phenomenal, all sourced locally from neighboring farms, and it was the best I ate in Costa Rica. A great way to spend our final evening. If you’re not staying there, book ahead. The kitchen is small and the hosts prepare just the right amount of food for each night. We got the menu by WhatsApp that morning and ordered our meals in advance. I really loved the dinner, and hope others get the chance to visit this lovely family.
