Papagayo Luxury

Our family stayed in two villas, Vistas del Oros and Belvedere, in the Papagayo Peninsula Luxury Rentals gated community. On the last day, money was stolen from both villas: 2,000$USD and 1,000$USD. We found out the morning after, just before departure, and had to catch our flights, so we couldn’t file a formal police report on site. The safes weren’t working, and the money had been hidden pretty well, but it was still found. Since the theft happened in two villas on the same day, it strongly suggests it was planned. The financial loss wasn’t the most disappointing part. The agency managing the villas was unresponsive and unprofessional. Instead of properly reviewing what happened, it quickly blamed nannies who weren’t part of its agency, even though those nannies never entered one of the villas where the theft occurred. We expected a serious, empathetic, and transparent response from a high-end, secure resort. Our concerns felt dismissed, and we came away with little confidence in how guest security issues are handled. The setting may look luxurious, but the incident response and accountability didn’t meet the standards you’d expect at this level.
