Fidelito Ranch & Lodge

The room was spotless, and Leon and his dogs made us feel very welcome. Getting there means dealing with some rough roads, but I thought it was worth it.

It felt like staying with friends. We shared breakfast and evenings with the other guests, who came from France, Canada, Costa Rica, and Colombia. The owners speak English, German, French, Dutch, and Spanish, which may help explain the international mix. We were there for two nights with our three children, ages 7, 8, and 11, after coming from Tamarindo. They loved the horses, cows, and farm dogs. Brigitte gave us tips for Montezuma and Banana beach, both about 30-45 minutes away, and arranged a two-hour horseback ride for those of us who wanted to go. The rest of us got a special farm tour with Leon, picked lemons from a tree, and met the cows, including two newborns. The owners were very supportive and helped us make the most of our stay. We’d love to return someday. Thanks for the hospitality.

Bridgitte and Leon were wonderful hosts. We stayed among the trees, birds, and monkeys, while beautiful Tambor beach was still very close. Our children had a great time playing with the dogs, riding horses, and learning about the farm.

The place was quiet, clean, surrounded by nature, and spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen. Internet was slow and only usable in a small area. We were given so many rules about what not to do that it felt somehow harassing. Once, we left our room and the A/C stayed on; someone, possibly Brigitte, came in while we were away to switch it off. That offended us. They also don't take cards, which seems very old-fashioned for a tourist place and, as I understand it, is illegal in CR. I posted this same comment on Booking.com, but someone, perhaps Brigitte, asked for it to be deleted. I don't understand why, since everything here is true. Maybe that's why all the Booking.com comments are positive.
