The setting was so peaceful, and we were close to some beautiful beaches. We even heard howler monkeys, which made it feel like we were right in nature. Our clean, comfortable room was well kept, and everyone welcomed us warmly from the moment we arrived. The staff also let us know when the turtles would be released, which was unforgettable. We couldn't have asked for a better stay and would highly recommend it to anyone after a relaxing, friendly, unique experience.

We came back in April 2025 and got the same warm welcome. A group of Howler Monkeys stayed for over an hour, jumping from tree to tree around the property. Seeing them so close was incredible. We had another amazing breakfast with fresh-pressed juice, and the pool was spectacular. We absolutely LOVE this place and the owner on site. 10 out of 10 for our second stay! On our first visit, we especially enjoyed the newly opened open-air restaurant, with comfortable seating made from locally sourced hardwood. Breakfast was $12 USD and came with seasonal fresh-pressed juice, good coffee, fresh fruit, and an entree of your choice. They also make espresso-based drinks. The grounds are beautiful, with mature trees, carefully kept landscaping, plenty of parking, and a clear pool with comfortable loungers. There's an outdoor kitchen, wooden swings made from local hardwood, and both bath and pool or beach towels are provided. The Blue Window is within walking distance of restaurants, a mini grocery store, and beaches with white or volcanic black sand. Each time we went to the beach, we had it to ourselves. They can arrange airport transportation to and from Liberia or San Jose, rides into town for meals or grocery shopping, and tours for an extra fee.
We felt at ease as soon as we arrived. The boutique bungalows are beautifully decorated, and we feel lucky to have found this little paradise. The name suits the Henri Matisse painting that brings indoor and outdoor spaces together. Chaca, one of the owners, was charming, friendly, articulate, funny, and REAL. The staff were gracious and personable too. Costa Rica is generally friendly, but The Blue Window felt especially welcoming. We came just to enjoy being there, and loved it. The place feels secluded and off the beaten path, but several restaurants are an easy walk away. A few beaches are close by too, with big waves we played in, tidepools, and both black and white sand. With a car, you can reach all sorts of activities, and The Villas also offers tour packages if you'd rather have someone else arrange and drive. It was the best value of our trip, and we hope to return. We saw howler monkeys, lizards, birds, and mysterious glowing spots in the tree above the pool. 😉 Highly recommended!
Chirley was so kind and helpful. My friends and I had a great time relaxing by the pool under the trees. Blue Window's villas are beautifully decorated, with great AC and wifi, and the location is close to some amazing beaches. I'll come back next time I'm in Costa Rica.
I stayed at Blue Window Boutique Villas Hotel for the Guanacaste Golf tournament and was impressed by how well kept and modern it was. The location is ideal, near the beach and several local restaurants. It was peaceful and relaxing, and I enjoyed both the outdoor pool and the sun terrace in the mornings and evenings. My room was up to date, with air conditioning and fast, reliable internet, which mattered a lot to me. Some rooms also have equipped kitchens, a useful option for longer stays or if you prefer to cook. Manager Chirley was exceptionally friendly and helpful, and her service made my visit much better. I didn't get a chance to visit the nearby turtle sanctuary, but I'm already planning to return for next year's tournament and explore it then. The comfort, amenities, location, and excellent service made this a memorable stay. I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Playa Junquillal. Thanks, Blue Window Boutique Villas Hotel, I can't wait to come back!
